Carnival Cruise Line’s Mardi Gras trip ship continues to make first-time port calls, this time in the western Caribbean during a week-long cruise. The ship docked in Mahogany Bay on Isla Roatan, Honduras, for the first time.
Mardi Gras Arrives in Mahogany Bay for the First Time
On Wednesday, August 11, the Carnival cruise ship made its maiden visit to Mahogany Bay on the island of Roatan, Honduras. The ship was scheduled to arrive at 7:00 a.m. The ship’s leadership team and local authorities attended a customary plaque exchanging ceremony to honor Carnival’s flagship’s visit during the stop.
Carnival Cruise Line president Christine Duffy stated, “We are pleased to launch our Mardi Gras sailings and give passengers a chance to enjoy all of the splendor of Mahogany Bay while giving a much-needed boost to the local economy.” “The resumption of sailing in Mahogany Bay has such a wide-ranging effect, and having our flagship stop on this port is so wonderful. I’d like to personally thank our partners in Mahogany Bay for their hospitality in welcoming our passengers on behalf of Carnival.”

On August 9, the ship made its maiden visit to Cozumel, and the following day, it made a first-time call in Costa Maya. During Mardi Gras’ inaugural trip, which left Port Canaveral on July 31, 2021, there were also maiden stops in the Eastern Caribbean.

Before the ship returns to Florida on Saturday, August 14, the current trip will spend two more full days at sea. The next trip will visit San Juan, Amber Cove, and Nassau in the Eastern Caribbean.
The Liquefied Natural Gas-powered Mardi Gras is the most innovative ship in the fleet (LNG).
