Delta is expanding its business class check-in service to international airports in Los Angeles, New York City and Atlanta. The new service will offer a dedicated lounge for passengers traveling on the airline’s premium transcontinental routes.
Delta has improved the business class check-in process at their LAX airport location. They have also added a dedicated lounge for those who are traveling in business class.
At LAX, Delta is planning an improved business class check-in and a dedicated lounge.

Delta has been rumored to be planning an unique Sky Club for business class travelers at LAX for some time. United has a Polaris lounge, American has a Flagship lounge, however Delta does not have a lounge other than its Sky Clubs (though those are in some cases nicer than their U.S. airline counterparts).
It was allegedly being constructed on the terminal two and three connector’s upper level.
In a Delta Air Lines Sky Club in Detroit, an executive was talking a bit too loudly. Delta has reportedly canceled Sodexho contracts for the operation of certain clubs, and Los Angeles will soon receive its own business class lounge, as well as enhancements to the Delta One check-in experience.
Remember that this is just one side of a three-way discussion, so it’s impossible to tell whether remarks are about check-in vs lounge. Here are some notes from my reporter, including a quote from a female executive (seems pertinent because of the “boobs” remark) inside the club:
Delta One LAX will get a special coffee, tea, amuse bouche, and champagne treatment.
“At Delta One LAX [check-in], we’re receiving terrible feedback.” Uniform look, inconsistent staffing, and so forth. “This must take place immediately now. Rene isn’t in the mood to wait. We need to get the coffee out of there. They’re looking for a Nespresso machine. The colleague will offer to prepare the coffee and serve it. We’ll have to travel to Williams-Sonoma and purchase it there. At the very least, alter the coffee service by August 24th.”
“We need an amuse-bouche, Chef Jon. Serve them with something like cantaloupe on a skewer. It’s a canape and amuse-bouche sort of thing. “Excellent service.” “These are goods; I’m not sure where we’ll acquire them from.” In the kitchen, who’s going to do this? Lisa is terrible; she is incapable of completing any of these tasks.”
“What’s going on is that we’re being pushed to perform at a greater level. While the personnel we have are wonderful, they do not match the expectations of demanding visitors. Another request is that each adult visitor be served champagne from a tray. As a result, the associate will need to know how to offer a glass of champagne. I’m not sure we can accomplish it, but that’s what they want. “Perhaps a pair of little shooter glasses will suffice.”
“Do we have anybody who can now fill the bill?” “Can’t we get some hot young ladies with large boobs to serve champagne?” “So, we’ll have to find out how to get our hands on some Nespresso. Williams-Sonoma will have to suffice. I’m not sure where else to go.”
“Yeah, I’m very excited for Heath to get there because he’ll be able to drive this. [The present management] is unable to do so. She’s never had such exquisite treatment before.”
…”I believe I’ll order the Nespresso and logo cups and saucers and have them delivered to Rosa’s home. They expect them to be implemented in two weeks. In addition, I’d want to make a tea named Tea Forte. Is it possible to obtain it via Compass? That is what we need right now.”
In Atlanta, Sodexho is no longer managing clubs.
“As you may have heard, the Sky Clubs in Atlanta’s E and F concourses were given to us. They are Atlanta’s biggest and finest clubs, with enormous footprints. Very good. Both are high-end.” “On November 1st, we will begin our transformation. Sodexo will leave certain clubs on the 31st, the night before they shut. I’m thinking 12 a.m. Every day, approximately 2,000 people visit both clubs. We’re looking for 100 hourly employees, one general manager, four assistant general managers, and one chef. We’re also looking to hire around seven supervisors.”
“The good news is that Compass has provided us with an open budget. All of the little goods, clothes, and office equipment cost about $200,000 total. We’ll probably spend about $260. Everything else, including recruiting, has a budget of $450,000. As you are aware, recruiting is a major issue. I’ve scheduled a job fair at Atlanta’s airport on August 25.”
“We’ll need to employ a large number of individuals. Atlanta badging takes eight weeks, which is crazy. We can’t wait to start hiring. We’ll employ them right away and put them on payroll, then send them to the Atlanta Aquarium until their badge arrives. Managers are in the same boat. They’ll come to you first, stay in a hotel, and work at a thriving club.”
Delta has been contacted for comment, and I will update this post if they reply.
