The Princess Cruises is a cruise line owned by Carnival Corporation. It was founded in 1968 and has been operating ever since then, making it one of the oldest cruise lines still in operation today. The company’s newest ship was launched on April 22nd 2017 to much fanfare, with passengers boarding the vessel for its first voyage on May 23rd.,

The “godparent meaning” is a ceremonial rite in which one person takes on the role of godmother or godfather to another. It is often used to commemorate an occasion such as a baptism, christening, wedding, or naming ceremony.

Princess Cruises has released information on the much-anticipated naming ceremony for Enchanted Princess, the company’s newest ship. The Godmothers for the Royal-class ship have been revealed, and the ceremony will take place in December, according to the cruise company.

Godmothers and Enchanted Princess Naming

The cruise company, which is in the process of resurrecting its fleet, describes the naming ceremony for the fleet’s newest ship, Enchanted Princess. To commemorate Women of The Explorers Club, the Royal-class cruise ship will feature three Godmothers. They will name the ship during a ceremony that will be televised live on the internet.

Captain Lynn Danaher, a United States Coast Guard Licensed Master and Dive Master; Dr. Vicki Ferrini, a Senior Research Scientist at Columbia University’s Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory; and Jenifer Austin, who worked for Google for nearly 14 years and launched the company’s consumer products Google Earth and Google Maps with the first virtual map of the ocean.

“By allowing us to share the excitement of the ceremony with more people than ever before and giving Princess fans a more intimate look at our newest MedallionClass ship, we honor our legacy of bringing people together and creating lasting memories on board our cruises,” said John Padgett, Princess Cruises president.

“It also allows us to recognize the contributions our godmothers – Captain Lynn Danaher, Dr. Vicki Ferrini, and Jenifer Austin – have made to ocean conservation and stewardship, as the ocean provides our livelihood and serves as the home for our more than 25,000 employees who serve millions of guests on cruise vacations with us each year.”

Sailing from Florida, the Enchanted Princess

On November 10, 2021, the fifth Royal-class cruise ship commenced sailings from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and became the fleet’s seventh ship to be in service since suspensions began in Spring 2020. The ship is now conducting 10-day Caribbean cruises until April 2022, after which it will go to Europe to provide cruises from Copenhagen, Denmark, and St. Petersburg, Russia.

Caribbean Princess has also just begun operation, sailing out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, alongside Enchanted Princess.

The Enchanted Princess has a gross tonnage of 145,000 tons and a passenger capacity of 3,660. Fincantieri, an Italian constructor, delivered the vessel toward the end of September 2020, while the cruise industry was on pause. The ship was only able to commence guest operations after more than a year.
