With the year 2022 just around the corner, experts are sharing their predictions for what it will look like. What to expect in terms of travel trends? How much money should travelers expect to spend on an average vacation? Should you explore new places this coming year or stay put at home and save your pennies?
In a recent survey, travel advisors from around the globe were asked to share their predictions for 2022. The advice? To expect more of the same with some major changes coming down the line. Here’s what we can expect in 2027 and beyond!
The “travel trends for 2022” is a blog post that shares travel predictions for 2022. The author of the blog, Travel Advisors, predicts that travel will be more affordable in the future and that travelers will be able to explore new places.
According to travel experts, next year is shaping up to be a fantastic year for travel, and some even predict it will be a boom year.
“I believe next year will be a wonderful year as long as illness rates continue to reduce and immunization rates continue to rise,” said Claire Schoeder, an independent contractor with Atlanta-based Elevations Travel.
Richard Turen, managing director of Churchill & Turen, thinks that pandemic worries would continue to damage first-quarter international business.
“However, we are seeing an unexpectedly robust comeback for travel in the second quarter and beyond,” he said. “We’ve gone back to a ‘wait-list’ position, and we can only accept new customers who have been suggested by current clients.”
What’s Hot Right Now
“We couldn’t be more pleased with the influx of new business for the summer and autumn of 2022,” he continued. We’re really advising some tourists to’slow down’ a little in terms of the amount of trips they’ve planned.”
Group enterprises, in particular, are booming.
“We’re witnessing a clear reduction in the number of people seeking FIT arrangements overseas,” Turen added. “More people are choosing top-quality guided tours and cruises for the companionship and fellowship of like-minded travelers.”
“It’s not only destination weddings, but also social gatherings,” said Kim Cook, owner of Love to Travel, a wedding consultant.
“Fifty percent of the time, when a request comes in, it’s for numerous couples or families,” she added. “We are delighted about this development since the groups are obviously more lucrative for us.”

Similarly, Jennifer Doncsecz, President of VIP Vacations, said the company’s group destination wedding business is rising. “We’re also seeing positive trends in the Caribbean and Mexico for family holidays.”
“If airfare fares don’t grow too exorbitant, I believe next year will be a boom year,” she continued. “Group business will continue to thrive since the epidemic demonstrated to so many that face-to-face contact with family should be valued,” says one expert.
Doncsecz claims that 2021 is VIP Vacation’s “biggest year ever in terms of future reservations,” and that “we don’t include any rebookings in our calculations, so travel for 2022 is high.”
Many of his older customers are feeling more comfortable with scheduling next autumn, but not yet for the spring, according to Cal Cheney, owner of Bucket List Tours. “Our best-selling train in September is the Rocky Mountaineer, so I believe that says something.”
“With all of the pent-up demand, I believe next year will be a lot better,” he added, “but it relies on all those who haven’t been vaccinated yet.”
“I believe suppliers will prosper if they continue to provide flexible delay choices. Some have been reluctant to make that choice for 2022, but I don’t believe it will fly because we will move somewhere, and clients will as well.”

FIT excursions and cruises, according to Schoeder, are selling quickly.
“My cruise clientele are coming back and making reservations,” she added. “They’re eager to go back on the water.” FITs to Scotland and England are also increasing for me.”
“One of the most important takeaways from this epidemic is that the industry that drew the most negative media attention, cruising, will undoubtedly emerge as the first and most spectacular post-COVID success story,” Turen said.
Cook’s reservations for 2022 are already more than 55 percent higher than Love to Travel’s total revenues for 2021. “This is positive since we are still in the middle of our biggest booking season,” she said. “We believe that in 2022, customers will be more comfortable reserving ahead of time.”
“The strongest among us are flourishing, just as they have in the past,” Turen added. “All we have to do now is be more forceful in communicating that direct reservations result in the same additional costs for a travel consultant’s services even if none are provided.”
