United Airlines CEO Oscar Munoz said the company is “working towards” a full recovery of its travel industry by January. He also discussed how the company has been doing well despite recent controversies and how it plans to be more transparent in the future.
United Airlines CEO Oscar Munoz has said that the company could be fully recovered by January.
While the delta version of COVID-19 has been a nuisance, United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby thinks the nation has passed its peak and anticipates a complete travel recovery in January.
“Obviously, the Delta variation has caused a drop in travel, but it’s mostly business travel. Many workplaces had planned to reopen in September, but the Delta variation has put those dates back several months. “I think it’ll be January now,” Kirby said on CBS’s Sunday news show, “Face The Nation.”

“It seems that the number of instances has peaked. We can only hope that this is the case. Let’s hope that when more people get vaccinated, everything will return to normal in the United States. The demand (for) recovery, on the other hand, has most likely been put back until January.”
What’s Hot Right Now
Kirby discussed a wide range of topics with presenter Margaret Brennan.
When asked whether airline contractors or customers can be sure they won’t come into contact with a United employee who hasn’t been vaccinated, Kirby replied it’s just a question of wearing a mask.
“One of the most essential things to remember while flying is that it’s actually the safest place you can be because the airflow on an aircraft is the safest place you can be indoors,” he added. “As a result, keep your mask on at the airport. That is a regulation. And, due to the administration’s directive, we’ll have everyone at the airports vaccinated in no time.”
Brennan asked Kirby whether the Biden Administration should implement a requirement that all passengers wishing to travel be vaccinated, implying that the TSA might check for vaccination cards.
The idea of requiring flyers to be vaccinated has been considered, and it has the support of White House advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci.
People may be vaccinated en masse at work, according to Kirby.
“You can get a high proportion of the nation rather than putting it a hardship on individuals who are vaccinated to show that they’re vaccinated every time they go on a plane, a train, or any form of public transportation,” he added. “So, for the time being, I believe their strategy of concentrating on jobs and work is the best way to proceed. However, they have excellent data and research, and if they say they want us to verify everyone, we’ll gladly comply.”
